Composer: Johann Sebastian Bach
Bach’s Musical Offering: a work full of enigmas and hidden layers that found its origin in a visit to the flute playing king of Prussia in may 1747.This work needs solid players who can overcome all difficulties and bring the true expression of this great music. With Sophie Gent, Jan De Winne, Lorenzo and Vittorio Ghielmi as main performers, Bach’s Musical Offering sounds fresh, profoundly expressive and colorful. The use of the Silbermann pianoforte for some of the parts of the composition gives a unique aspect the texture of the sound. This recording is completed by the Canonic Variations on Vom Himmel Hoch by Bach, a work that he wrote in the same year and that breaths the same ‘learned’ polyphonic style.
