Artists: La Cicala, Stefanie True, Inês D’Avena
Composer: Giuseppe Porsile
This recording offers a sampling of vocal and instrumental chamber works by the prominent Neapolitan composer Giuseppe Porsile (1680-1750). Porsile’s career brought him to Barcelona at the end of 1707, and then to Vienna, where he served the Habsburg Emperor Charles VI for nearly three decades before retiring during the reign of Empress Maria Theresia. Inês d’Avena and her group La Cicala continue their investigation of unjustly forgotten jewels of the Neapolitan repertoire in this third CD for Passacaille with the brilliant collaboration of soprano singer Stefanie True. Several works are recorded here for the first time and are truly a convincing enhancement of the baroque repertoire.
