“Listening to this Grand Sonata by Czerny completely changes one’s perception of this composer, who has so tortured young pianists struggling with his Études.” François Hudry, Qobuz
Congratulations to the Romanian pianist who is indeed on a mission to change the perception of Czerny, remained in the popular recollection mostly as a teacher and creator of numerous study works.
On this album, Aurelia Vişovan presents Czerny’s Grande Sonate to the public for the very first time on a fortepiano, alongside Schubert’s dramatic Sonata in C minor, D. 958, composed in the same year, only a few months after Beethoven’s death.
