Gifted: first opera – unfortunately lost, like the following ones – composed at the age of 12. Prolific: 1700 cantatas, of which only 1400 have survived. He could play all the instruments available at the time. Nature also gave him a beautiful baritone voice. It is therefore highly probable that Telemann composed the cantatas for bass voice, of which this recording gives us a sample, centred on the Passion of Christ.
